Rope Splicing

Course Requirements

No previous requirements. Please come along and enjoy. See below for items to bring with you.

Participants will be taught how to whip the ends of a rope to prevent fraying, and then how to do a Long Splice in bell rope.  The Long Splice is used to join two ropes together so that the splice can be pulled through a block without jamming, as it is less bulky than a short splice.    To test the integrity of the splice, we will do a ‘tug of war’ at the end of the session!

Ropes and all equipment required will be available, but if participants have their own scissors,Stanley knife, breadboard for cutting, masking tape, fid or whipping twine then please bring these along to the session.
